Defending champions India will play against Lebanon in the opening match of Nehru Cup Football on August 19.This match is scheduled to take place at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi.

A top AIFF official disclosed that India will challenge 160th ranked Kyrgyzstan on August 22, and will meet neighbours Sri Lanka on August 25. India will play against last year's runners-up Syria on August 28.

The final match of the tournament has been slated for August 31. The draw will be made public on Friday.

The five-nation tournament will now be played in a round robin format after All India Football Federation (AIFF) had rejected the entry of Palestine, which was sending a junior team for the international tournament.

The next edition of the Nehru Cup will be held from August 19 to 31 according to national coach Bob Houghton.

The Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi is the front-runner to host the tournament, but a final decision hasn’t been taken. Also it isn’t known if ONGC would continue to be title sponsor of the tournament as in the last edition. Further the format and participating teams are also unknown at the moment.

Ahead of the tournament Team India would go an European preparatory camp from July 7 to August 7 either in Spain or Portugal. While the players would gather for the preparatory camp on June 22.
